1 cup water
1/2 cup sugar
juice and peel of 1 orange
juice and peel of 1 lemon
3 cinnamon sticks
12 cloves
2 bottles red wine
1/2 cup Cognac
Simmer water, sugar, cinnamon and cloves for 10 minutes. Add juice of orange and lemon plus orange and lemon peel. Steep for 10 minutes and strain. Add wine and warm gently. For added punch, pour in Cognac. Ladle into cup or glass and serve with cinnamon stick.
