HOSTA & FERNS
___________
"When I was a boy, I thought scent was contained in dewdrops on flowers and if I got up very early in the morning, I could collect it and make perfume."
~ Oscar De La Renta
Joey, Being obsessed with day lilies, I did like the photos of the ones you posted today. The ones I hybridized four years ago will begin blooming in a couple of days. It will be interesting to see what I have "created" Hopefully some will look decent! As a "review of 2011" I just posted the Iris that are here now that they have all finished blooming for the year. Enjoy your day. Jack
ReplyDeleteYour photos are so beautiful. I love each and every one. What a fantastic showcase of your blooms.
ReplyDeleteSuch beautiful photos of my favorite blooms of summer, Joey. A gentle rain is falling as I type this morning, a very welcome sound. I've been dragging the hose around and watering everything, but the plants much prefer raindrops to tapwater.
ReplyDeleteDelicious day-lily, second down.
ReplyDeleteHowever do you manage to have so many flowers!
Esther
Hi Joey i love to see daylilies, but they are not maybe easy to grow in the tropics. But i still envy your collages. I cannot put many photos in one face in picasa, what program do you use in creating them. I love those so many photos in one page. thanks.
ReplyDeleteHi Jack. This was posted before I finished. Actually recipes were included but eaten up and dissolved. Thank you. This is just the beginning of my daylily collection. Since taken, many more have opened ... it's impossible to keep up with photos! So enjoyed your iris.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Karen. July explodes!
You are very kind, Esther. Thank you. My gardens have been evolving for over 35 years. These daylilies are over 25 years old and still going strong! My blog has lots of photos throughout the seasons. Enjoy!
Hi Rose. The rain was a blessing for sure! While gone, I thought the garden might be 'toast' but fared well. However, our watering bills are horrific!
Thank you, Andrea. You are always so kind. Actually, these were done in Picasa.
Absolutely love your joyful captures!
ReplyDeleteExplosion of Beauty Joey, wonderful colour, textures ect.
ReplyDeleteYou always have such beautiful, quality photographs Joey. Your garden has to be a treat to visit in real life. The third photo down ~ are those double pink geraniums?? I have recently become obsessed with the double versions and ordered a couple. I hope they do well.
ReplyDeleteAlso your opening quote is intriguing ~ I'd really like to hear the breaking of blooms!
Everything looks beautiful.
ps I noticed on the "about me" on the sidebar ~ it says "ho hum housewife" ~ you seem anything but. In fact I would say it seems you are very accomplished!
Joey,
ReplyDeleteYour photos are as usual always fabulous! I am in awe right now with the shatsas, daylilies, phlox and roses.
Eileen
So there, friend Joey, who has more fun with your posts? YOU or ME? ;-)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful as always!!
Thank you, Cat ... fun subjects!
ReplyDeleteA fun shoot, imac. Thank you.
You are a dear, Kathleen. Thank you, as are you accomplished! The flower is an ivy geranium, actually several years old. It vacations inside in winter.
July lovely, Eileen. Thank you. Just returned from visiting your lovely garden. All looks grand!
Thanks fun friend, Shady :)
You have so many beautiful flowers, and do such a wonderful job of photographing them.
ReplyDeleteHow kind. Thank you, dear sweetbay.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful array of summertime flowers you've posted Joey. I love them all!
ReplyDeleteYou are so masterful with those picasa images and collages Joey - works of art, lovingly created, every single one.
ReplyDeleteOur reward for dealing with winter's fury is the beauty of summer. And your beautiful collages capture it all! You have your lovely Hubbard Lake retreat to enjoy, but have you ever seen my corner of Michigan, the Southwest? Beautiful! We lived in the southern suburbs of Detroit after our marriage, but I grew up in St. Joe. Charming!
