"Spring has returned. The Earth is like a child that knows poems."

For lo, the winter is past,
the rain is over and gone;
The flowers appear on the earth,
the time of singing has come
and the voice of the turtledove
is heard in our land.
The fig tree puts forth its figs,
and the vines are in blossom;
they give forth fragrance.
Arise my love, my fair one,
and come away.

You chose a perfect poem for the first day of spring. The sunrise photos are lovely, a new day and a new season.

ReplyDeleteI am so glad that it is finally here.

Welcome Marnie and Spring! This is the view from our cottage (on my way out the door now for a visit). We are most fortunate to enjoy both autumnal & vernal equinox sunset directly in front, over the lake.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Rose. Spring has finally sprung! We are on our way to the lake to visit my sister, check on the cottage and enjoy another beautiful equinox sunset. Enjoy the gift of spring!
Welcome Tatyana and thank you. Isn't this a glorious day ... happy Spring!
Thanks Jen ... it's been a L O N G winter. Enjoy the gift of spring :)
Happy Spring Joey! What a gorgeous view you have.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your weekend! I'm sure you will.
... and to you also, Linda. Yes, we're blesse. The view is what drew us to the place ... actually, it found us :) Happy Spring and kitchen garden!
ReplyDeleteHappy Spring - Is that still snow on the ground in your neck of the woods?
ReplyDeletethe photos are just too perfect!! So fabulous and breathtaking! Spring is still not here , yet!
ReplyDeleteThanks for visitng my blog and leaving your comments! :)
Now if the weather just learns to pay attention to the calendar... ;-)

ReplyDeleteThere's just something unspeakably magical about sunsets. You showed me some real stunners, Joey.
ReplyDeleteBrenda
Beautiful sunsets! I love the last shot with the strong silhouettes.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful post Joey, both words and images.

Hello Joey, What a lovely post...There is something deeply magical about a sunset over water...and your photographs are magical...Happy Spring Equinox, gail
ReplyDeleteHappy Spring, dear Bren. We left home (no snow) to find the remains of winter still holding on here (3 1/2 hours north), a gift for all and especially the Great Lakes.
ReplyDeleteThank you dear Superchef ~ spring has arrived and will touch each of us each sometime soon. Enjoy the moment ... it will find us all :)
We're on a roll, Monica, aren't we :) Winter is behind us even though we know it will tease a bit before bidding us adieu :)
I anxiously wait all winter for this moment, Naturgirl. As yours, my heart sings ... Yea spring!
So sweet, dear Brenda ... how about shared evenings ... one in your inviting outside room and one up here at the lake :)
Thank you, Maggie. Love your comment ~ silhouettes at dusk are haunting, watching the depth of evening grow.
Karen, you're a dear! Touched by your note, I'll respond. Rushed to leave this AM, we are here not only enjoying the moment but with a huge agenda for my visually impaired sister who also lives here getting her, after 2 years living with us, connected with her own life back here at the lake. Hugs.
Dear Gail ~ a joy to embrace this magical time of year. We're most blessed to see the remains of winter (a bit of snow and ice on our lake) & hope of spring (sunset at 7:48). Yea equinox!
Breathtaking! That second large capture is perfection! I can understand with all of its' beauty and warm memories of your father why this special place brings you so much calm. Oh, enjoy your stay! I'd never want to leave!
ReplyDeleteThank you, dear Kim. This lake holds huge memories ... I've been coming here since I was 4! Asked to do another benefit calendar for the lake, had hoped to run out with my camera this AM but woke to 6 inches of snow and it's still coming down ...perhaps tomorrow before we leave! A snowshoe day today :)
ReplyDeletejoey,
ReplyDeletesuch lovely words about this most exciting season. it is a very inspirational time of the year. i never really understood it when i lived in florida. your sunsets over the lake remind me of our times at the cottage in canada. beautiful!
Thank you, Marmee ... spring is exciting, isn't it! I love the seasons, each unique. The lake is home base for family/friends in summer who come from across the country to unite and celebrate.
ReplyDeleteSuch beautiful poetry, and it's a bible verse no less. Just as pretty as your photos.
ReplyDeleteJoey, What beautiful photos! Happy Spring to you!! :-)
ReplyDeleteThank you, Robin. Blessings come with each day ... God's gift for the remains of the day and hope for the next says it best.
ReplyDelete... and Happy Spring to you, dear Shady! Thank you for your kind thoughts.
Joey, these are beautiful images to greet the spring. Some images are as powerful as words.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely gorgeous. You had me until I saw SNOW! ;)
ReplyDeleteLOL! Enjoy both worlds. Lucky you! Love, K
Thank you, Mary. Sunsets are powerful, each unique.
ReplyDeleteSurround snow and icy lake, dear Kathryn, make for stunning photos. Some time next month, the lake will thaw and the loons will return. The angle of the sun changes dramatically as days lenghten and seem to last forever! Summer Solstice ... sunset 9:25 PM
Hi Joey! Culinarily, I am like a child that knows no poems! So I have two questions that will probably seem really basic to you: 1) Where can I get a decent pepper grinder? Mine grinds the peppercorns too finely; I want them a little chunky. 2) I stumbled upon a cooking show and noticed they had these cute spout topper thingies on their olive oil bottles, so it pours out more finely. Awesome. What is that called? And where can I get it? Feel free to address me as you might a child: I normally shop at yard sales or Target, and have been inside a Williams Sonoma only once and that was to sample their peppermint bark (it was GOOOOD!). Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI love your visits and wit, Monica! Good girl ... like good garden tools, everyone MUST own a decent pepper grinder and olive oil stopper/spout (or hold finger over liquor pouring spout). Though I love Williams-Sonoma (and blessed to be near a store) there are other great kitchen shops/stops near you like:
ReplyDelete~ Bed Bath & Beyond (Ann Arbor store):
3645 Washtenaw Avenue
Ann Arbor, MI 48104
(734) 971 7633(or shop online and search for 20% off coupons)
~ Kohls also has great sales and kitchen stuff: http://www.kohls.com/kohlsStore/kitchendining.jsp
~ Macy's (I see 2 locations near you) Check local paper for weekly discount shopping coupons
Good luck or can always e-mail me ~ loonfeather@comcast.net. (I remember you were at Goldner-Walsh for an event(I think). Meeting with them tomorrow AM regarding Garden Club plantings here in the village. Yea Spring (at least the snow here has melted)!
Hi Joey
ReplyDeletePerfect poem and perfect pictures!
Rob
Mesmerizing images, Joey! Thank you!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful place you have there on the lake.
I love those verses from Song of Solomon.
Happy, happy spring to you! Isn't it wonderful?
Thank you Rob. And I certainly have enjoyed visiting your piece of Paradise!
ReplyDeleteHow thoughtful, Kerri. Indeed blessed to find this awesome site, some evenings are so powerful I have to pinch myself. We are both blessed ... your last post was also filled with stunning beauty. Yea spring!
