FEAST AND CELEBRATE ~ 'LET US BE THANKFUL'

"O Lord that lends me life,
Lend me a heart replete with thankfulness."
~ William Shakespeare

THANKSGIVING PRAYER

We return thanks to our mother, the earth,
which sustains us,
We return thanks to the rivers and streams,
which supply us with water.
We return thanks to all herbs,
which furnish medicines for the cure of our diseases.
We return thanks to the corn, and to her sisters,
the beans and squashes,
which give us life.
We return thanks to the wind,
which, moving the air,
has banished diseases.
We return thanks to the moon and stars,
which have given to us their light when the sun was gone.
We return thanks to the sun,
that he has looked upon the earth with a beneficent eye.
Lastly, we return thanks to the Great Spirit,
in whom is embodied all goodness,
and who directs all things for the good of his children.

  12. Dear Joey,

How wonderful is the Iroquois prayer. Without our Native Americans , we wouldn't be here today. As the first gardeners they showed the Settlers how to sustain their life by gardening. We need to remember our history and give thanks to those who helped create it.

Happy Thanksgiving to you and your loved ones.

Hi Tim and thank you ~ fun to see a new face :)

So true, dear Carolyn. These are 2 faces that I wear. One of the treasured old pics is at my home here (my native American heritage) and one old print at the lake (my husband's pilgrim heritage). I loved the melding of the 2 photos on the 1st Thanksgiving :) Thank you for commenting ... I am blessed and thankful for knowing you :)
