Thank you, dear Katarina, and the same to you. Though gone for 35 years, I still love this photo of my mother. She was a true beauty, both inside and out.
I adore Lily of the Valley as did my mother, Donna. I used it as boutonnieres and in my wedding bouquet.
Thanks Rob and agree. We are at the lake this weekend and it's snowing ... sideways! Had hoped to put in boats but not with these winds and cold temps :( but all my chickens/grandchickens are here so life is good :)
You are a dear, Lindalou, and thank you. This was my mother's favorite flower.
That's it !!! Couldn't remember the name those little flowers. We have some in the yard BUT my neighbor has a 2x8 foot bed full of them....wonder if she'll let me have some. Pretty, pretty photos. Very endearing. Happy Mothers Day.
Lily of the Valley are my birthday flower so I've always loved them. I think Heaven will smell like Lily of the Valley, with a touch of lilac and lavender thrown in. I have vases around the house now and they perfume the air.
Thanks Patsi ~ besides lilacs, spring would not be spring without vases of Lily of the Valley. Promise me you will cut some and bring them in the house ... I'm sure your neighbor would love to share!
Sounds delightful, Eileen. My mother also loved a good party ... I treasure her stories when she was a buyer at J.L. Hudson during the 'speakeasy' days in Detroit! Happy Mother's Day :)
Aw, Jane Marie, I love that thought and totally agree (hopefully we'll be greeted with the scent of fresh basil too)!
These are gorgeous photos, Joey. Lily of the Valley is such a delicate flower-so tiny and could be overlooked if you didn't know it was there. What a treat it is when you get close and see the perfectly formed little bells.
The photo of your Mother is so pretty. I know you must treasure it. Hope you had a great Mother's Day! :)
And you too, dear Beckie. Yes, Mother's Day was wonderful, surrounded by all my chickens & grandchickens. I do love that photo that hangs in my power room next to Mr. Ho-Hum's beautiful mother (which I should someday also post)!
How beautiful Joey! I have carpets blooming now and seeing your bouquet it makes me want to pick one. This is a particularly stunning collage. How gracious and lovely your mother Anne is.
Thank you, dear Carol. My lily of the valley are finished here but I did pick a bouquet when at the lake over the weekend. How kind ... my mother was indeed lovely, both inside and out.
Joey, that's the sweetest quote - and a very beautiful mother! Happy Mother's day!
ReplyDeleteLily of the Valley is just perfect for Mother's Day, as is the Kipling quote. Joey, you always get it just right.

Hiya Joey
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely quote, Lilly of the Valley is like a rite of spring, we just need the weather to match!
Brilliant idea! Love the montage.

Wonderful post in honor of your mother. At my party today, we all spoke of our mothers and fathers who are no longer with us.
ReplyDeleteMy mother loved a good party, was a great cook and always said what a great time she had at my home as she aged. Have a great day tomorrow.

Beautiful monochrome image and the collage is so lovely.
ReplyDeleteLovely abstract joey, and just beautiful flowers. Great quote to go with it!
ReplyDeleteHi Joey. My Mom loves lily of the valleys too. A couple years ago we got her lily of the valley perfume which she liked a lot.

ReplyDeleteThank you, Rick. I love this flower, sad to see only a few bouquets left.
Spring would not be spring for me without these memorable plants, Marnie. I'm not surprised your mother liked them :)
Lily of the valley looks so sweet close-up. Looking forward to Thursday, and thanks for phoning! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Monica (do you want some)! Looking forward to seeing you too :)

ReplyDeleteThis is lovely. I like how you've superimposed her favorite flower with her beautiful photograph.
