Hi, Joey! You always find the greatest photos. I'm thrilled that our days will start growing longer but I'm at the beginning of my long winter. So... I found this particular quote very inspirational.

Have a Merry Christmas!

Wow, thank you, dear Carol! I think you and I both love life behind the lens :) Happy Winter Solstice and coming New Year ... it has been a joy getting to know you :)

Thank you, dear friend Marmee ... the lake is one of my favorite spots to photograph and fun to combine different feelings. Wishing you the happiest of holidays shared with your beautiful family. Christmas Blessings!

Thank you dear Marnie :) I know I will enjoy sharing winter with you and seeing life/wildlife through your gifted eye. Happy Holidays!

Thank you, Kate ... I have fun creating them! Wishing you the merriest of holidays ... and fun in the kitchen :)

Thanks Anna. I love the twinkle in Green Man's eye. He face hangs on our cottage overlooking this beautiful lake ~ he, too, is happy for the longer days when we will be spending more time with him :)

That's such a great picture for bringing in the Winter Solstice. I went to an herb farm and made an evergreen wreath with my dil to bring in the season.

Oh you're a clever girl with your camera and photo program! Great photo!
Those cranberry recipes sound so good!
Happy Winter Solstice dear Joey!
And may you and your family have a very merry Christmas and a happy, healthy New Year.

It is a special day to celebrate, Anna, especially for gardeners. I long for longer daylight :)

Good day, dear Kana, and thank you. You too have been busy on your new 'great' looking blog!

Dearest Kerri, how kind! As you might have noticed, I have 'a thing' for cranberries and beginning in early November, can never seem to get my fill, which will pass when the calendar turns :) Happy Holidays and may the New Year surround us all in happiness :)

A gleeful wink at solstice, and at the lengthening days, Joey; I like it, I like it a lot! Here's hoping we have benevolent winter this year, wherever we live.

Thanks jodi. I'm hoping for a gleeful winter for all ... one we ALL need! Thankfully, we are blessed with dear friends with long arms to hold our hands and bolster our spirits throughout the long winter days.

It does seem like many are honoring the Solstice, Monica, although, like you, it has always been a day I love to celebrate. Yea!

Thank you, dear Gina ... I've been thinking of and missing you too! Yes, it's been quite a year and the loss is huge ... it's wonderful to see your beautiful girls enjoying your rich life. The merriest of holidays, Christmas Blessings, and wishes for a beautiful New Year!

Happy Holidays, Cameron, and thank you. Do hope you are on the mend, Birthday Girl!

Your Green Man is very cheerful compared to the grim carvings I have been looking at and illustrates the kind of up-dating/re-interpretation I mention in my post.

Wouldn't it be interesting if mediaeval and modern artists were able to get together for a discussion about symbolism?

Thank you, dear Helen. Looking back, I see I missed many comments while my daughter was hospitalized for 10 days throughout Christmas. You are a constant joy and wealth of creative information. Thank you fun mac/gardening friend. Happy Gardening New Year!

So enjoyed your post, Esther, and looking forward for a moment to return and read all the comments.
